Very few persons are such who remain alive in the hearts.
Hussain Ibrahim Jamal is among those card for persons whose impressions and virtuous deeds have to continue to lie. Hussain Ibrahim was a successful industrialist fund businessman of the farthest limits in recognition his economical services he was called king of kashewnut. He was pillar of cotton and textile industries and trade after the creation of Pakistan.
Mr. Hussain got his primary education from Madressa Islamia of Dwarka. Afterwards he was enrolled in N.D Maloo Bai School. In 1934 he gave up education and stepped into practical life. He left limited area of Dwarka and went to Bombay where he began trade in cloth. In 1941 he segregated himself from trade and started Cashew nut business in which he succeeded comparatively well. Gradually his business because greater due to which people began to call him King of Kashew nut.
In 1942 Bombay government favored him with the title of justice of peace and nominated him as honorary presidency Magistrate.
Hussain Ibrahim took part in public activities from the very beginning besides his business. In undivided India he remained member of Managing Committee of Bombay provincial Muslim League from 1942 to 1947.
He played remarkable role in the establishment and management of Dwarka Memon Boarding of Memon welfare Society. He raised substantial funds for the establishment of Madressa-e-Islamia of Okha port. After partition of India he migrated to Karachi and took active part in the activities of Relief Committee looking after Memons coming to Pakistan.
In Karachi late Hussain Ibrahim Jamal started his business in cloth and in 1952 established Hussain Textile Mills. It is the result of his skill that today Hussain Industries hold a high-ranking position in industrial sector. Hussain played a remarkable role in the establishment of Pakistan Merchant Association and Federal Chamber of Commerce. He remained member of Pakistan foreign trade Development Council from 1950 to 1954. Similarly he took prominent part in the establishment of Okhai Memon Anjuman and was elected President of Okhai Memon Madressa Association in 1957. He remained in the forefront in the establishment and management of Pakistan Memon Federation, Pakistan Memon Educational and welfare Society. Okhai Memon Anjuman and Okhai Memon Jamat. He evinced special interest in Okhai Memon Madressa Association and Farabi School; and as chairman of Hussain Foundation established Hussainabad Boys and girls Primary School in Federal B Area as well. As Chairman Okhai Memon Madressa Association got the building of Madressa in Kharadar and established as a Jamat Memorial School at Nawabad and Amna School in Memon Housing Society.
Besides educational services his other social services such as rehabilitation and hospitals hold a very high position. He was elected senior vice president in Pakistan Memon Educational and welfare Society; and discharges his duties diligently for few years in this capacity. He started Hussain Foundation with a large sum of Rs.20 Lacs meant to bear a hand and provide financial help in the promotion of education and social welfare. Despite being a great industrialist renowned and celebrated personage he was great follower of simplicity. He loved Islam from the entire depth of his heart. Though man of serene disposition queued mien very cultured sociable and affable. His industrial successes in which he went off well and great munificence’s were bright proofs of his business enterprise large heartedness and magnanimity.
He strongly opposed sectarianism. He was of the opine that after migrating to Pakistan Memons should cause to be Pakistani Memons. It all create spirit of unity that can make every task easy. It was a long standing desire of the decreased that Memon should come out of small suburbs and dirty streets and live in clean and spacious houses. Establishment of Hussainabad in Federal B Area is a part of accomplishment of his desire. Hussain Ibrahim Ganatra had gone to London for medical treatment. After few days he passed away on 7th June 1972. At that time he was of 58 years. His dead body was brought to Karachi by air and was funereal on 9th June 1972 after Jumma prayers. Though he is not among us today but the revolution that he brought about in the community with his persistent efforts future generation will surely be profited by.
